In 2005, the Gochon Award was jointly established with
‘Stop TB Partnership’ that belongs under the United Nations to
commemorate the achievements of individuals and organizations that contributed greatly to the eradication of tuberculosis.
This international award was created in honor of President Lee Jong-Keun.
Different topics are selected each year for the award. The screening committee that is made up of experts recruit award
candidates who have made notable achievements in research, medical treatment, education, and volunteer services areas.
The final candidates are selected for the award after the review.
Each year, the Award Ceremony is held during the ‘Union World Conference on Lung Health’. Winners are awarded with
awards,
medals, and monetary prizes.
